Psychology Tracks
If you want to gain more expertise in the Psychology field, we have specific tracks recommended for PSYC students including:
Note: Psychology Tracks are not concentrations. If you decide to follow one of the tracks, the track itself will not appear on your TDA, transcript, or diploma (unless you pursue a minor recommended in the flyer).
Advising Requirements
First Year
- Fall Semester – join the First Year Mandatory Advising session (invite via email)
- Spring Semester – join the Sophomore Success workshop (invite via email)
Second Year
- Meet with an academic advisor 1:1 during a drop-in session as needed
- Meet with a faculty advisor for suggested psychology courses and tracks if needed
Third Year
- Apply for graduation
- Attend a Prepare for Graduation workshop
- Meet with our PSYC 495 internship coordinator/career specialist
Fourth Year
- Look out for a "Graduation Check" email from psycadvisement@fullerton.edu
- If needed, meet with an academic advisor during drop-in if you have any questions about degree progress.
Academic Notice
Freshman
- Join the Academic Notice Information session (check your CSUF email for an invitation)
- Join an Academic Notice workshop or individual appointment (email invitation)
- Complete the university wide Canvas RESET course.
- Any academic notice advising hold(s) will be released once the requirements above are completed prior to registration
Second Year & Beyond
- Join an HSS Academic Notice Information session (check your CSUF email for an invitation)
- Schedule and attend a 1-on-1 meeting with an academic advisor from Titan Net (email invitation)
- Complete the university wide Canvas RESET course
- Any academic notice advising hold(s) will be released once the requirements above are completed prior to registration
Permit for PSYC Class
If you're unable to register for a Psychology class, you may request a permit to enroll in that class (if you have completed all necessary pre-requisites).
Please e-mail us at psycadvisement@fullerton.edu with:
- Full Name
- CWID
- Course
- Section Number (2 digit number)
- Class Number (5 digit number)
- Proof of completed pre-requisite(s)
Example of class information : PSYC 300, Section 04, #19590.
Please submit your request through your CSUF email.
If you request a permit for a class with no open seats, you will be prompted to join the waitlist for that class.
A permit will not allow you to enroll in a class if the class is full.
Disclaimer: we can only issue permits for Psychology classes. If you have registration issues for a non-Psychology class, please contact the corresponding department.
Course Evaluation
Community College Course Evaluation
Please note that only Introduction to Psychology, Statistics, and Research Methods courses will be evaluated.
Step 1
- Check www.assist.org
- Enter the year you completed the course and select the community college you attended.
- Select “Psychology” to see if the course you completed would be equivalent to PSYC 101, 201, and 202 at CSUF.
Step 2
If you took a similar course to PSYC 101, 201, or 202, please send the complete course syllabus to psycadvisement@fullerton.edu including your name and CWID.
- For PSYC 201 course evaluation, Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) needs to be covered.
- For PSYC 202 course evaluation, please send the research paper you have written for the course.
PDF is strongly recommended.
Please contact your former professor or the school you have attended to obtain the evaluation materials.
Step 3
We will notify you once the course evaluation is completed.
Course Evaluation from a Four-year University

PSYC 494-495-499
PSYC 494
PSYC 494 is our Peer Mentors or Undergraduate Course Assistants (UCA) course.
How Many Units: 1-3 units per class. This will be based on the total number of hours you work.
What Does It Fulfill?: The overall degree 120 unit requirement (excludes PSYC major or minor unit requirement).
PSYC 495
PSYC 495 is our Field Placement in Psychology course. Internships can be on/off campus, a UCA, or research assistant position.
How Many Units: 3 units; course can be retaken.
What Does It Fulfill?: Fulfills the PSYC major internship requirement

PSYC 499
PSYC 499 is our Independent Research course. Students who hold Research Assistant postions are able to enroll in this course
How Many Units: 1-3 units per class.
What Does It Fulfill?: Fulfills up to 3 units of under division psychology electives.
Graduation
Step 1
Earn 85 units or more and have a CSUF GPA 1.85 or higher
Apply for graduation
Step 2
The Psychology Advisement office will conduct a “graduation/grade check” by reviewing your most current TDA to see if you are on track for your anticipated graduation term. Once the review is conducted, a summary email about your “grad check” is sent to your CSUF email. Be on the lookout for that email from the psycadvisement@fullerton.edu account.
Step 3
Pay for the graduation fee by the deadline.
Step 4
Complete the remaining coursework needed for your degree requirements on time.
If you are not on track for your anticipated graduation term, contact a psychology advisor to discuss your academic plan and if needed extend your graduation term.
Step 5
Register for Commencement on time
Fullerton Finish/CA Promise
Step 1
- Complete the schedule planner form provided by the program before the deadline

Step 3
- Check your email for feedback from the psychology advisement team
If you need any additional support, please draft your tentative schedule and meet with a psychology advisor during drop-in hours. One of the PSYC advisors can meet with you 1:1 to discuss further. No appointment is needed.
Career/Grad School
If you are interested in going to grad school to pursue a Masters degree or if you are wanting to explore career pathways, you can meet with the HSS career specialist to discuss your post-grad options.
